Paris, France - May 24, 2006 - NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has announced that its map data is now available through the Oslo based GIS specialist, Geodata AS – a company which over the last 19 years has developed solutions to help expanding companies find the right sites, assist in routing emergency vehicles and contribute to the fight against crime.
Geodata has been distributing ESRI GIS systems since 1987, tailoring solutions for its Norwegian customer base. To ensure easy integration with the full range of ESRI technology and applications, Geodata is converting NAVTEQ’s European data into both an ArcSDE managed database and the highly compressed SDC file format.
Until now, Geodata has focused on the Norwegian market, however “the growing demand from customers for both European and global map data motivated the decision to expand our data set offering,” explained Geodata Product Director, Harald Hansen. “We chose NAVTEQ as our primary supplier for two reasons – firstly its strong relationship with ESRI and secondly because the quality of its European transportation and navigation datasets is unrivalled.”
NAVTEQ works with many of the leading ESRI distributors in Europe and the latest agreement with Geodata underlines NAVTEQ’s growing reputation within the GIS (or Geospatial as it is now often referred to) community.
