Mexico City – March 8, 2011 – NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, has joined forces with LG Electronics, to offer consumers the new LG Optimus One P500, part of the Optimus series. The LG Optimus One navigation system features the NAVTEQ map of Mexico that includes over 487,000 km roads and covers approximately 100 percent of the population. Powered by NAVTEQ map data, the LG Optimus One features voice-guided, turn by turn navigation at no extra cost to consumers enabling them to find directions to a variety of destinations throughout Mexico safely and effectively.
The Mexico map contains a full set of features including over 99,900 Points of Interest (POIs) in 62 categories such as restaurants, hotels, gas stations and banks to provide users with the ability to select their destination by either the POI listing or address. Over 191 NAVTEQ geographic analysts located throughout Mexico drive thousands of kilometers each year and have local knowledge of road network changes helping to make NAVTEQ maps the freshest and most up-to-date.
In addition to the navigation system, the new LG Optimus One lets users share the 3G mobile data network with up to five people. It combines an excellent design, Android™ 2.2 (Froyo), a 3.2 inch touch-screen display, a camera that detects faces and smiles and a powerful GPS antenna.
Together, NAVTEQ and LG Electronics created marketing materials to help increase consumer's awareness of the benefits that wireless navigation can bring to their ever day lives such as helping them save time and money by arriving at their destination quickly and effectively. Additionally, sales training was provided to retail employees to help them engage in a more consultative sales process for end consumers interested in purchasing the LG Optimus One.
“The LG Optimus One reveals NAVTEQ and LG’s continued commitment to offering Mexican users the most advanced navigation tools, allowing everyone to find the best route to their destination,” says Jim Dineen, Consumer Sales Director for NAVTEQ in Mexico.
