São Paulo – July 12, 2011 – NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, announced today that it is teaming-up with Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, to launch a comprehensive marketing campaign geared at educating Brazilian consumers on the benefits of navigation in their everyday lives.
By teaming-up, NAVTEQ and Garmin hope to help educate consumers on the benefits that can be achieved through regular, everyday use of a navigation device:
Save Time
Between commuting to work and traveling to business meetings, time is in short supply. A PND can help maximize time by providing the most efficient routes between destinations and minimizing the chances of getting lost. Regular use of a navigation device can save over one day of driving time annually.*
Save Money
NAVTEQ Research shows that regular use of a PND reduces fuel consumption, which directly affects consumer’s wallet. By regularly using a navigation device, up to R$630 can be saved annually helping to keep consumer’s hard-earned cash where it belongs—in their wallets.*
Drive with Confidence
Driving in an unfamiliar area or getting lost can be an unsettling experience. Reduce stress by using a PND as an alternative method for obtaining directions. A PND can be a trusted driving companion empowering drivers to drive with confidence by adding an extra sense of security.
“NAVTEQ is pleased to collaborate with premium device makers like Garmin to help drive consumer education on the benefits of navigation for regular users,” stated Helder Azevedo, General Director, LATAM Sales, NAVTEQ. “Garmin PNDs provide Brazilian consumers with a navigation experience featuring turn-by-turn guidance, extensive Points of Interest as well as broad and comprehensive city coverage all packaged in a cutting-edge, high-quality design.”
The campaign, set to launch in mid July at the Cidade Jardim shopping center, includes a video with unprecedented 3D technology display. Customers will also have the opportunity to experience first hand the navigation functions of the Garmin Nuvi 3760 Personal Navigation Device (PND), the thinnest in the world, that features NAVTEQ® map data and premium content. In this campaign there will also be interactive kiosks, printed materials and on-site product experts.
“By collaborating with NAVTEQ, we want to help consumers understand the value offered by navigation devices through regular, every day use,” said Eduardo Cortez, General Manager, Garmin Brazil. “Whether you are out on a drive with the family or commuting to work, a PND acts as your trusted co-pilot helping you save fuel, discover new points of interest along your journey or simply arrive at your destination.”
