NAVTEQ Co-sponsors First Ever Esri International Geospatial Geocoding Conference

Event focuses on expanding geocoding research, development, and utilization

Dec 6, 2011

Redlands, CA– December 6, 2011– NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, is a co-sponsor of the first ever Esri International Geospatial Geocoding Conference, December 6–7, 2011 in Redlands, CA.

Geocoding, or attaching place-based information to an individual piece of data, is the key ingredient for performing robust spatial analysis. The Esri International Geospatial Geocoding Conference brings together researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers to establish standard methodologies for accurate geocoding results worldwide.

NAVTEQ will be presenting in two sessions during the conference.

  • Global Reference Data for Flexible Geocoding
Dan Gibbons, Senior Product Manager, NAVTEQ

This session will focus on the challenges of global geocoding and multi-purpose geocoding GIS applications for areas like emergency response, fleet management and business intelligence.  Learn about solutions that address issues of arrival location geocodes vs. display (e.g., front door or lobby of hotel), hospital entrance vs. emergency entrances, delivery or dock locations, as well as the need for a clear display enabling zoomed out analysis.

  • Panel – Future Geocoding Research and Applications
Panel members include Dan Gibbons, Senior Product Manager, NAVTEQ

“NAVTEQ’s accurate and precise geocoding reference data allows organizations to save money by more efficiently managing information on people, assets, and infrastructure.” shared Roy Kolstad, vice president, Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ.  “Ultimately, we hope that in supporting Esri as a co-sponsor of their first Geocoding Conference, both organizations can foster further collaboration within the industry.
